Dr. Ortiz and his culturally competent staff provide effective, affirming health care services for transgender and gender non-binary patients. Those who have gender identities that differ from the sex they were assigned at birth can expect to be treated with understanding and respect by our caring and knowledgeable health professionals. Our trans patients will not be put in the position of teaching us how to treat them: we are ready. We provide counseling, cross-sex hormones (HRT), care management, STI testing, medication assistance, lab work and SRS referral.
Our dedicated Care Management team ensures that our patients have immediate access to care, and that they get the level of treatment they need. Care Managers are here to ease the journey of the newly diagnosed, by focusing on their specific situations. Care Management secures HIV, STD and Hepatitis C medications, as well as PEP and PrEP. For those who qualify for Bliss CARES services (based on financial circumstances), our team coordinates with Bliss partners including Hope and Help, Miracle of Love, the Center for Multicultural Wellness and Prevention, and the Department of Health for services. We provide access to more than medical care (including medication and counseling); we offer support with housing, food, dental care and transportation. Care Management is a bridge to supportive services, with the goal of helping every patient find a permanent solution for access to care, such as Medicare, Medicaid and the Ryan White program. The key to our outstanding service is customization of programs to fit individual needs.
Anal cancer has been shown to be more prevalent and with more aggressive behavior in HIV infected individuals compared to the general population. This malignancy is strongly related to HPV ( Human Papilloma Virus ) infection. If it progresses, drastic treatments including Surgery / Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy may be required. In our Anal Dysplasia clinic, we are committed to identifying the early signs of the disease and offering medical treatments that are not too complex, with the goal of avoiding radical surgery and standard long term cancer treatment. We will work closely, through a referral system, with our local Colo-Rectal Surgeons when needed; hopefully during the earlier stages of the diseas

Having worked with the transgender community in Orlando for the last eight years, I have noticed some trends and changes to the community itself and the amount of support this city provides. Thankfully, Orlando is so full of love and support for those who identify across the gender spectrum. I just want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone in Orlando who lifts up our amazing trans community by providing healthcare, advocacy, meetups, counseling, legal aid, employment, housing, mentoring, friendship, respect and a seat at the table.
Unfortunately, there are still those out there who are feeling left behind. If that describes you, we at Bliss Healthcare Services want you to know that we’re here for you. All of us. Our entire staff. We are on your team.
Have you been referred for Mental Health Counseling? Are you offended, because it sounds like someone is saying you’re crazy? Well, I don’t blame you, but please don’t worry. Mental Health Counseling is simply the official title that the Florida Department of Health gives to talk therapy for classification and regulatory purposes. The wording does sound scary and institutional, I admit. However, it is not a very accurate or adequate description of what goes on in my office.
When you come to see me, I want you to feel at home. From the moment you walk through my door, I will do my best to help you feel safe and relaxed. There will be no pressure, no judgment. After all, you are entrusting me with your life story, or whichever parts of it that you choose. I know it may be intimidating to make that first appointment. However, if you are willing to give it a try, I think you’ll find that it can be the one hour of the week that you look forward to the most.
